Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUUF) continue to threaten the fisheries resources in our country
To this day, Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUUF) continue to threaten the fisheries resources in our country, affecting the sector as a vital source of food, employment, recreation, trade and economic well-being for many people. That is why the UN General Assembly declared June 5 as the International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. The date coincides with the adoption of the Port State Measures Agreement, the first international legally-binding instrument specifically devoted to the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
That is why today, Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources affirms its strong commitment to intensify its fight against IUU Fishing, standing true to our duty to protect and conserve our rich marine resources.
